Grandma's Pie with 4 fillings, a fantastic cake, and it's quite unique, at least I haven't found many recipes for this cake. It's a bit more complicated to make, but my husband loves it and it's his no. 1 treat.
Grandma's pie with 4 fillings - very tasty cake!
Grandma's pie with 4 fillings, ingredients:
for crusts:
- 500 g of white flour
- 1 bag of yeast (7 g)
- 2 dl of milk
- 150 g of fat
- 1 spoon of sugar
- 3 egg yolks
File 1:
- 4 grated green apples (1 kg)
- 5 spoon of sugar
File 2:
- 100 g of poppy seeds
- 50 g of raisins
- 5 spoon of sugar
- 1 dl of milk
File 3:
- 100 g of walnuts
- 5 spoon of sugar
- 1 dl of milk
File 4:
- apricot jam
For coating and sprinkling:
- 1 egg white for coating
- 1 tablespoon sugar for sprinkling
Approximate preparation time 120 minutes.
Grandma's pie with 4 fillings, preparation:
- For the crust, activate the yeast in lukewarm milk with sugar and a little flour.
- Cover with a cloth and leave for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes uncover and add fat.
- Then add the egg yolk and combine everything.
- Then gradually add flour while mixing.
- Knead the dough well without adding additional flour.
- Divide the dough into 5 noodles and leave to soak.
- In the meantime, cook the fillings.
- For the first filling, sauté apples and sugar until all the water evaporates, leave to cool.
- For the second filling, boil poppy seeds and raisins in milk with added sugar until the filling thickens, leave to cool.
- For the third filling, boil walnuts in milk with added sugar until the filling thickens, leave to cool.
- The noodles are soaked and each noodle should be separated to the size of a baking sheet (20 x 30 cm).
- Arrange crust - poppy seed filling - crust - apple filling - crust - walnut filling - crust - apricot jam in a baking tray.
- Finish stacking with the fifth crust, which is then coated with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkled with a spoonful of crystal sugar.
- Bake for 20 minutes at 220 degrees C.
- When golden brown, cover with aluminum foil and bake for another 30-35 minutes at the same temperature.
- Cool the baked cake before cutting.
