02.10.2018. a unique conference called "Let's turn the region into an attractive tourist destination" was organized at the Hilton Hotel. The occasion for this meeting was the recent publication of the international guide Belgrade In Your Pocket, and Antoanela Petrović, the director of In Your Pocket Serbia, opened the meeting and emphasized that her team was extremely glad that Belgrade was also included in the guide's map as a city that has been considered a new, attractive city for years. tourist destination. Ms. Petrović added that the guide Belgrade In your pocket in the form of a pocket map and brochure was printed in a circulation of 20.000 copies and placed in more than 170 frequent locations that tourists often visit in Belgrade.

"The fact that we very successfully distributed more than 2% of the circulation of Belgrade In your Pocket in a period of 70 months speaks volumes about the number of tourists visiting Belgrade, as well as the fact that there is no doubt that there is a justified need for such a quality guide as this one." Apart from the printed editions, much more information is available on the website, which is visited annually by over 19 million travelers worldwide. Information can be accessed with the help of a mobile application that works both online and offline. The goal of Serbia In Your Pocket in the coming period is to become a standard publication for the city of Belgrade in order to increase the quality of information for tourists, as well as for the In your pocket team to create similar publications for other cities and regions in Serbia," concluded Petrović. .

In front of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, the participants of the conference were greeted by Dr. Maja Stošković, director of the Services Sector, who pointed out the fact that PKS was pleased to support this conference, which focuses on one of the most promising economic branches, i.e. tourism, which, thanks to its multiplied effect, has a significant impact on other economies of the branch, promotes employment and contributes to overall economic development. "Tourism is a living branch of the industry and every change, from meteorological to economic, visibly affects the daily flow of tourists, events, number of flights, and the development of the destination depends on the economic stability of the country itself and the region. The guests from the region, eminent experts in the field of tourism, with whom today through examples of good practice we will try to find ways to connect, work together, create new innovative content, which will be recognized not only by tourists from Europe and overseas countries. Together, through synergy, resources, potential, knowledge and experience, we will turn the region into an attractive tourist destination, through an increase in the number of tourists and greater recognition," Stošković pointed out, among other things, and added that the successful creation of a joint tourist offer is confirmation that tourism is recognized as an important instrument. regional cooperation, and that the Chamber of Commerce took the first step in connecting the region two years ago by creating a joint tourism product, first with Montenegro, and soon with Macedonia as well.

With these products, by the end of the year, the Chamber of Serbia and its members will apply for funds provided by KIF (Chamber Investment Forum) for joint tourism products of at least 3 countries in the region.

The event was also attended by the director of the Tourist Organization of Belgrade and on that occasion pointed out the very good results that Belgrade as the capital is recording in terms of the increase in the number of tourists. "I consider tourism a social phenomenon and not just an economic branch. Tourism is not a zero game and when we talk about this part related to the economy and the economy, regional connection is exactly what is necessary so that we can perform together, especially in those large overseas markets, because seen from China, America, this region of ours looks like one a small alley, because who will travel 10.000 kilometers or if you want 7.500 thousand miles and stay only in Belgrade, no matter how much I think that Belgrade is beautiful and that it is worth spending a whole life in it and not just a few days. As the director of TOB, I have emphasized in previous contacts that I am very happy that such a gathering is being organized and that the association brings benefits to all of us. Quoting Mark Twain who said that travel is the best killer of prejudices, Popović emphasized that when people travel to a place they have heard about, anything is possible, especially when it comes to these modern communications, only when you go and see where these people live and how they live, you get to know these people and you have your own opinion about it and you don't depend on other people's opinion," concluded Popović.

Regional connection is necessary to make this part of Europe attractive for tourists from overseas markets, and one of the ways to encourage their arrival is the formation of a common tourist product and mutual cooperation - this is the conclusion of the conference where a large number of eminent tourism and economic experts from of the entire region - from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro.

In the second part of the meeting, new trends in tourism were discussed, how much the region manages to "catch up with the world" and how much mutual connection and creation of joint offers can affect the improvement of the quality of tourist offers and attracting more foreign tourists.
