Belopalanačka sukana banica is an unleavened pie that is made with unrolled crusts and filled with boiled cheese.. I made banica for the first time and I had a good and accurate recipe that I found in a booklet that promotes Bela Palanka.
Belopalanačka sukana banica, ingredients:
- 1 kg of flour
- 440 ml of cold water
- 220 ml of oil
- 350 g of sheep's cheese
- 40 g of pork fat (if you don't use fat, put butter)
- 20 g of salt
Belopalanačka sukana banica, preparation:
- Knead a harder dough from flour, salt and water.
- Leave the dough to rest for half an hour, then divide it into 15 equal balls.
- Make a bun from each ball, spread it with fat, then sprinkle it with flour and place it, i.e. connect three buns at a time.
- Cover with a cloth and leave to rest for 1 hour.
- After that, roll the skins with a rolling pin. Fill the rolled crust with crumbled cheese and oil.
- Spread the oil slowly and evenly over the entire rolled crust.
- Roll up the phyllo crust and arrange it in a greased pan.
- From above, sprinkle the whole banca with oil.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 250 degrees until it gets a nice brown color.
