Bled cream slice (Bled krempita), or kremšnita, or krempita - it is perhaps the strongest symbol of Bled cuisine. Of course, cream rezina can be found and bought in many places, but the Blej cream rezina is only one.

Istvan Lukačević, who used to be the head of the pastry shop at the Park Hotel, tried for a long time, using various combinations of ingredients, to come up with the ideal recipe, but it took a long time before he succeeded.

What is krempita?

And what is the secret? Probably just in the sense of enjoyment in consumption and unique taste. There is never a shortage of that in Bled, because official statistics say that in the last 60 years, 12 million tons of this candy have been sold!!!

A golden baked base of puff pastry, made with butter (not from margarine), delicious vanilla cream, the final part of the whipped cream, the top crispy crust sprinkled with powdered sugar, perfectly cut pieces - when something like this is served in front of a guest, everyone's mouth starts to water...

And of course, whoever has the opportunity to have lunch at Lake Bled, the obligatory dessert is the Bled cream slice (kremšnita, krempita).

Bleja cream slice of krempita

Bled cream slice (Bled krempita), or kremšnita, or krempita - it is a symbol of Bled cuisine. Of course, cream rezina can be found and bought in many places, but pale cream rezina is only one.

  • 6 pieces of eggs
  • 8,3 dl of milk
  • 170 g of sugar
  • 100 g of sugar (for egg whites)
  • 100 g of flour
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar
  • 0,3 dl sweet sour cream
  • 300 g of sugar
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar

Puff pastry (bottom and top crust)

  1. You need 2 packages of puff pastry, made with butter. Bake until golden. Before baking, prick the dough a little with a fork so that bubbles do not form.

Cream:

  1. Separate the whites from the yolks. Beat egg whites with sugar for egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  2. Beat the egg yolks with sugar and when they are well beaten, add 0,3 dl of cold milk and flour.
  3. Place the smaller pot in the larger one. Fill a large pot 2/3 with water. Pour 8 dl of milk and vanilla sugar into a small saucepan and let it boil. Add the yolk mass and mix with a whisk. Cook for approximately 10 minutes, until the mixture thickens. When the mass has thickened, remove from the heat and gently mix in the egg white mass, so that everything is even. While the mass is still warm, apply it to the baked bottom crust.
  4. Whip the sweet cream with sugar and vanilla sugar. We apply it to the yellow mass.
  5. Place the top baked crust over the filling and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
