Today begins Blogomania 2016, the third regional conference whose main theme is one of the most promising spheres of the Internet: Fashion & Beauty.
After a five-hour drive from Belgrade, we arrived in Maribor one day early, as required by the organizers' plan. We used our free time to visit the surroundings and get our first impressions of the city and Pohorje, where the conference will be held.
Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia and a former (SFRJ) industrial center. It has always been known for its ski resorts in Pohorje. Ski resorts in Pohorje have about 41 km of slopes. The highest peaks are Črni Vrh and Velika Kopa (1.543 m), Rogla (1.517 m) and Veliki Vrh (1.347 m). Zlatna lisica (Golden Fox) is a well-known competition of top skiers, which takes place every year in Pohorje and is part of the World Cup.
We decided to immediately try out the culinary skills of the local restaurateurs, and the choice fell on a restaurant located at the very beginning of the ski resort: La Cantina, pizzeria - spaghetti restaurant. He judged the large number of occupied places (an old rule: when you don't know which restaurant to choose, you look where there are the most "locals"). The choice, from the numerous pizzas and pastas on offer, fell on spaghetti carbonara (spaghette carbonara) and tagliatelle siciliana (tagliatelle siciliana). The pasta is cooked just right (al dente), the topping is tasty, but not overwhelming - you can feel every ingredient. In any case, a clean five, for both orders.
In the end, we decided to try a bit of mountain walking and climbed halfway up one of the ski runs. Many people walk, it is part of their local culture - both old and young with small children. We also noticed a long-forgotten custom: everyone who passes by says to you: Good day. Even though he doesn't know you!
It was quite tiring, both uphill and downhill (it's hard to believe, but it was harder going down...). But it was worth it - from the middle of the trail there is a panoramic view of Maribor and the surrounding area.
After a busy and interesting day, full of impressions, we look forward to the events at Blogomania.
