Bob Dylan (Bob Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941, Duluth, Minnesota, USA) is an American musician, artist, songwriter, singer, writer and poet.

He is one of the biggest cultural icons, not only in America, but in the whole world. Dylan is still involved in professional music, and very actively so, which means that his career spans more than five decades. He is not the oldest active, nor the most experienced musician on the scene today, but he is the only one who has had consistent success throughout his career.

He has sold more than 100 million records, making him one of the top 20 highest-paid rock musicians of all time. Winner of 12 Grammy Awards and 5 Album of the Year Awards. He also won an Oscar for the single "Things Have Changed" in 2001, for his performance at the age of 60. His hit single "Like a rolling stone" was declared the best song of all time in "Rolling stone" magazine, the most famous and best music magazine in the world for 6 decades, and the same composition is on the list of 500 best songs of all time.

In 2009, he became the oldest solo artist or member of a band to top the so-called "charts" on the Billboard album charts, when he was 68 years old. A few years later, his record was broken by the famous singer Tony Bennett, when he recorded a duet album with Lady Gaga. Tony was then 82 years old. It wouldn't be a surprise if Dylan breaks this record again someday, of course, if his age makes it possible.

Bob Dylan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991 at "only" 50 years old. After that he continued with even better music.

He officially started his career in 1959, when he signed his first contract with Columbia Records. It wasn't until 1962 that he recorded his first album, which sold poorly. Until 1964, Dylan wrote songs of protest, related to the politics that the USA was leading at the time, so that the citizens would get more freedom. From 1964 until the end of his career, he focused on his life and how he saw and felt it.

In 1965, he turned from a famous folk singer into a rock legend. He replaced the acoustic guitar with an electric one. He reached his peak in 1965 and 1966 with 3 fantastic albums "Bringing it all back home", "Highway 61 revisited" and "Blonde on Blonde", which, according to many, is his best and also one of the best in history.

In 1967, he switched to country music, dissatisfied with his music and aware that he was becoming addicted to drugs. Until 1969, he focused on country music, and released two solid albums "John Wesley Harding" and "Nashville Skyline". In 1970, he released his most criticized album "Self Portrait".

In 1975, he recorded, according to some, his best album "Blood on the tracks".

In 1979, he received inspiration from religion, starting to believe in Jesus and to read the Bible. He was born a Jew, but in 1979 he became a newborn Christian. This had a major impact on his career. Until 1981, he released "Christian" albums, "Slow train coming", "Saved" and "Shot of love", only the first of which sold in large numbers, and even received some Grammy awards. Throughout the entire decade of the '80s, he struggled to find his signature form, but even then he managed to release solid albums.

Entering the nineties of the twentieth century, the same story continued. He tried himself in various genres and did not succeed, until 1997 when he released the album "Time out of mind". Before the release of the album, Dylan was seriously ill, but recovered from a heart condition.

In 1998, the album won three Grammy Awards, one of which was Album of the Year. From then until today, each of his new albums is better received and sounds better than the previous one.

Since 1988, Dylan has started a concert tour under the name "Never ending tour", which continues to this day. Every year, no matter how old he is, he performs at least 100 concerts, which says everything about his hard work and dedication.

Bob Dylan ages like wine. The older the better.

His most famous songs are: "Like a rolling stone", "Blowin' in the wind", "Knocking on Heaven's door" and many others.

My personal favorite albums, despite not being very successful, are 1978's Street Legal and 1985's Empire Burlesque.
