The YouTube universe is full of stars who are usually not on the covers of normal and abnormal newspapers. They have an audience of millions, many followers, but only a few of them have the respect of media professionals. A manifestation that turns into a spectacle, "Balkan Tube Fest", was held last year in the Sava Center. Knowing how many people were left without a ticket and "kissed" the door of the Sava Center, many wish that this October the BTF will be held in the Belgrade Arena!
My Facebook-mail-&-live friend Miodrag Ilić says that last year 5500 tickets were sold, and that there were about 1500 left. https://www.youtube.com/user/Zvoganj, this is the most popular YouTuber in Serbia, Danilo Dabić, nickname Zvoganj, only he is not a vlogger like most of the others, but creates "Uncle Gliš" animations. His voice dubs all the characters that appear. You'll also see viewing numbers that are impressive even by Western standards.”
The sound is good. He wittily builds half-minute and one-minute stories on everyday banalities (which, by the way, he notices very well) and moves from association to association with an abstract humor that is easily recognizable. A rudimentary drawing fits the story perfectly, anything more elaborate than that would only make things pretentious. Of course, children under the age of 12 should not watch Zvognja, as it is not healthy for their relationship to the authority of moms and grandmas! 🙂
Even such a visit to the Sava Center is not surprising, when you know the viewership of certain tubers. Inspired by the link above, I looked at some other hyper-young authors and "authors" of video documentaries. Interestingly, they are so logorheic (so grind, grind, grind) that this addition to trivial everyday life dominates most of their vlogs. Admittedly, there are undeniably funny ones, but that can be noticed even from the plane.
What motivates the adolescent audience to watch them in such numbers? I'm knocking: because they are generationally close to them, because they lead identical lives like themselves, because they are still immature like themselves, because they think they are breaking taboos (and what teenager doesn't break them? - after all, teenagers' frontal lobes don't work yet anyway as it should be, it only joins the rest of the brain at a certain age, that's why teenagers are the way they are) and the fact that these pictures from the lives of people similar to themselves stimulate a little bit of voyeurism that everyone likes.
So much for peer audiences. And the authors? It would be normal for most of them to get serious when they grow up, so they decide to master it - look! - postulates of professional dealing with the media. Only successful socialization will enable them to survive in the very demanding world of professionals who have to respect dozens of different standards - if they don't think that this world will just spit them out.
