The tourist organization of Bela Palanka is organizing a gastro-tourism event in the period from August 12 to 14Banica Days 2016", which will be held in the park "Vrelo" in Bela Palanka.
- In this way, our wish is to make our contribution to the preservation of the traditions of this region and the old culinary recipes of our grandmothers, which were passed down from generation to generation for centuries, but also to offer visitors good entertainment - emphasize the organizers of the event, which will gather a record number of people this year. 300 competitors from several countries and thousands of visitors.
As part of the competition, prizes will be awarded for the three best banicas in all four categories (salty traditional, sweet traditional, integral and creative) and for the most beautifully arranged table.
The expert jury will be made up of representatives of associations of chefs in Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. The event's promoter is "gastronomad" Nenad Gladić - Lepi Brka.
In addition to the competition part, there will also be an exhibition part where local tourist organizations and their offers will be presented at the stands, as well as numerous associations, artisans, souvenir shops, private entrepreneurs and banika makers.
As part of the exhibition, visitors will be able to take part in the banica-making workshop and the "Children's Olympics in making banica", and they will also have the opportunity to try the specialties of this region: dishes made from Belopalanac pepper "vrtke", belmuž, scout beans, hunting mućkalica, pigeon shaker, fishing kettle, etc.
On the last day of the event, a "giant banica" prepared by last year's winner will be served.
All three evenings will be followed by an appropriate cultural and artistic program, which will be realized on the summer stage "Vrelo": on Friday folklore ensembles from Bulgaria and Serbia will perform, on Saturday a concert by Saša Matić, and on Sunday a concert by Bilje Krstić.
