This year, too, Serbia is participating in the event organized by Italy with over 1000 events in its 296 diplomatic and consular missions in order to valorize Italian culinary skills and the Mediterranean diet, which makes Italy one of the healthiest countries in the world. The Italian food industry is in second place in Italy in terms of invoiced revenue with over 180 billion euros, which is 11,3% of the gross national product.

This initiative takes on exceptional importance in Serbia, where the tradition of Italian cuisine is particularly valued and where Italy's economic presence is one of the most significant. Italy is the largest foreign investor in Serbia for the period 2000-2016, while last year it was Serbia's second trading partner, and in the first seven months of 2017, it registered an increase in its own exports of 7,7%.

The second week of Italian cuisine in the world in Serbia is organized by the Embassy of Italy in Belgrade in cooperation with the Chamber of Italian-Serbian Businessmen (CCIS), the Italian Agency for Foreign Trade (ICE), the Association of Italian Businessmen in Serbia (Confindustria Serbia), the Italian Institute of Culture (IIC ), by the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Subotica and the Cultural Center Piazza Italia from Subotica, with the support of Serbian and Italian sponsors.
