On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, when the International Museum Day is celebrated, we received good news from Leskovac, two recognitions for the National Museum of Zrenjanin.
Namely, at the Formal Assembly of the Museum Society of Serbia, the curators of the National Museum of Zrenjanin received two awards - the award for life's work went to Rajka Grubić, MA, museum advisor, ethnologist, while the award for the project of the year was given to the exhibition entitled "Merak mi je" by Olivera Skoko, senior curator, art historian.
Mr. Rajka Grubić has been working at the Zrenjanin National Museum since 1983 as an ethnologist and has a large number of professional works, exhibitions, projects, and participation in professional meetings behind him. He is the author of numerous monastery exhibitions, among which stand out "Gold embroidery and folk embroidery" (2016), "Circle of Serbian sisters - Gifted collection" (2015), "Folk embroidery - Tradition as inspiration" (2013), "Rugs from the collection of the National Museum of Zrenjanin ” (2011), “120 years of organized craftsmanship and entrepreneurship in Zrenjanin” (2005) and others.
- I am happy that I spent a wonderful working life in the Zrenjanin National Museum and that I worked with three generations of colleagues whom I welcomed and saw off. I am also happy to have collaborated with numerous colleagues from other museums. I loved my job, enjoyed it and the results are visible. Thank you for this award! - Rajka Grubić addressed the participants of the Solemn Assembly of the Museum Society of Serbia with these words.
The exhibition "Merak mi je" - Hedonism in works from the NMZ Fine Art Collection was seen by over 3.000 visitors during its two and a half month duration. A rich accompanying program was organized, which included expert guidance, themed evenings dedicated to enjoying wine, food, music and games, lectures, drama performances with high school students, art workshops with preschool and school-aged children, philosophy classes, musical performances, gatherings of hedonists as well as everyday visitors leaving hedonistic suggestions... A large number of organized, group visits from Zrenjanin and other cities of our country and region have been recorded.
- It is really a great honor to receive an award named after Mihailo Valtrović and a great responsibility for everything that I will try to provide in my working life. What I can single out that was meaningful to me in working on this exhibition is the step out of my own museum and the privilege of being in contact with colleagues from other museums who were a great help, in addition to colleagues from my museum. It is a great honor that my colleagues from the commission recognized my work. These are moments that can provide great motivation for the future. - said Olivera Skoko on the occasion of the award for the exhibition of the year.
As a reminder, the National Museum of Zrenjanin was declared museum of the year in 2006 by the Museum Society of Serbia on the occasion of a new permanent exhibition and a large number of program activities.
