Gomboce - dumplings with plums in sour cream sauce.

Gomboce - dumplings with plums, ingredients:

  • 700 g of peeled and mashed potatoes
  • 500 g of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • a bit of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 tablespoons of oil
  • 50 ml milk

To fill the button:

  • plums
  • cubed sugar and cinnamon

For rolling the finished dumplings:

  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 50 g of butter
  • 150 g of sugar

For the sour cream sauce:

  • 250 ml sour cream
  • 3 spoons of sugar
  • 3 drops of vanilla extract
  • cinnamon to taste

Gomboce - dumplings with plums, preparation:

  • Clean the pits from the plums.
  • Put cubed sugar and a little cinnamon in each cleaned plum.
  • Add eggs, salt, milk, oil and butter to the mashed potatoes. Combine well and slowly add flour. Tear off a small piece of the dough and put a plum in each part. Finely shape the dumpling. Do the same with the remaining dough.
  • In a large pot, pour water and add a little salt. When the water boils, reduce the temperature of the stove and lower the dumplings into the water. Let them cook slowly. They are ready when they float to the surface.
  • While the dumplings are cooking, prepare the breadcrumbs.
  • Melt butter and add breadcrumbs, fry on low heat until they get a nice color. Remove from heat, add sugar.
  • Roll the cooked dumplings in breadcrumbs and sugar.

Preparing the sauce

  • Mix the sour cream with sugar and put it on the stove. Add the vanilla extract and heat the cream, but be careful not to boil it.
  • Put the cream sauce on the bottom of the plate, put the dumplings, sprinkle with cinnamon and decorate with mint.
