Cake with barley pears - Verica Poznanović - Recipes and Cooking online

Cake with barley pears - barley pears got their name from the time of ripening, in mid-June, i.e. at the same time as barley. The fruits are small, with a pleasant taste and aroma. It belongs to the older varieties of pears.

19.06.2022. - Rakovica Monastery

The Rakovica Monastery is a monastery of the Serbian Orthodox Church, dedicated to the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, located in the Belgrade municipality of Rakovica. It has been the grave of Patriarch Pavle for a decade and has healing powers. Namely, numerous believers, who suffered from the most serious health problems, mental illnesses, found comfort in the prayer that healed them in the Rakovica monastery. There is also a huge pear tree in the monastery grounds, the fruits are small, juicy, falling on the ground.

I bent down and took about fifteen small pears. I tried one - it was too sweet.
I made a modest cake with pears from the rest.

Barley pear cake, ingredients:

  • 12 small barley pears,
  • 1 dl of oil,
  • 3 eggs,
  • 250 g of flour,
  • 2 vanilla sugar,
  • 100 g of sugar,
  • margarine for greasing and
  • 1 baking powder.

Cake with barley pears, preparation:

  • Beat eggs with sugar, add oil, flour, vanilla sugar and baking powder.
  • Pour the dough into a mold well greased with margarine.
  • Press as many whole pears as you have, and arrange them that way.
  • Heat the oven to 180 degrees and bake the cake for about 35 minutes.

If you like, you can cover the cake with chocolate glaze or just sprinkle it with powdered sugar. I sprinkled it with powdered sugar.
