COMPETITION FOR THE BEST SALČIĆ OF SERBIA - salčići, Milica Živković.
Sauces, ingredients:
- 1/2 kg of minced lard,
- 20 g of yeast,
- 1,5 dl warm milk,
- 2,5 dl of white wine,
- 2 teaspoons + 2 teaspoons of sugar,
- 1 kg of strong flour,
- 1 whole egg,
- 2 egg yolks,
- jam as desired,
- powdered sugar.
Salčići, preparation:
- Put yeast, 2 teaspoons of sugar and 2 teaspoons of flour in warm milk and let it rise for 15 minutes.
- Put flour, 2 spoons of sugar, egg and egg yolk, added yeast and white wine in a mixing bowl and knead a soft dough. Leave to rest for 15 minutes.
- Roll the dough with a rolling pin into a plate 1/2 cm thick, spread 1/3 of the lard, fold from bottom to top 1/3 and from top to bottom, from left to right 1/3 and from right to left and let it stand for 10 minutes. Roll out and repeat 2 more times. Wrap the dough in a cloth napkin and leave it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Roll out with a rolling pin to 1/2 cm and cut into squares. Put the jam and fold it in half or triangles.
- Bake at 220 degrees and roll hot in powdered sugar.
