Grandma's vanilla.
Grandma's vanilla, ingredients:
- 1 whole egg,
- 1 egg yolk,
- 1 large cup lard,
- 1 large cup of sugar,
- 2 large cups of flour and a little more if needed,
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda,
- zest and juice of one lemon.
To join the reels, you need:
- plum, apricot or other jam,
- powdered sugar,
- 2 bags of vanilla sugar, for twisting vanilla beans.
Grandma's vanilla, preparation:
- Put fat, egg, egg yolk and sugar in a bowl and mix with your hand, lemon juice and grated lemon peel. Add flour mixed with a teaspoon of baking soda and knead the dough.
- Roll out the dough immediately with a rolling pin to a thickness of about 7-8 millimeters and use a vanilla mold or a brandy glass to cut out circles and arrange them in a pan lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 10-15 minutes and make sure they stay white.
- Spread jam on the baked circle and join it with the second circle and roll in powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar.
- These vanillas can be eaten immediately.
The obtained vanilla beans are enough for 10 people. Vanillas are prepared for about 2 hours. Vanilla beans are placed on the table and everyone takes as much as they can eat.
