COMPETITION FOR THE BEST VANILLA: vanilla - Bojana Đurović

Vanilla.

Vanilla, ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 200 g of butter or lard,
  • 1 egg,
  • 1 egg yolk,
  • 4-5 tablespoons of ground walnuts,
  • 1 lemon - juice and peel,
  • 100 g of sugar,
  • 2 vanilla sugar,
  • 600 grams of flour.

    For coating:

  • 400 g of jam made of apricots, plums, raspberries and the like.

Vanilla, preparation:

  • In a deep bowl, put butter or fat at room temperature, add egg + 1 yolk, sugar, ground walnuts, juice and lemon zest. Beat everything well with a blender, then add flour and knead the dough by hand.
  • Roll out the 0,5 cm thick crust and use flower-shaped cutters (hearts, etc.) to remove the cookies.
  • Let one half be filled with cookies, and the other half with a "window" in the middle.
  • Arrange the cookies on a baking sheet covered with greaseproof paper and bake at 180 C for about 7-8 minutes. Make sure they stay light in color.
  • Wait for them to cool a little in the tray, then transfer them to a flat plate.
  • Combine the finished cookies with apricot, plum jam... and roll in powdered sugar scented with vanilla...
  • Happy snacking!

Advice:

From one measure, you will get about 2,5 trays of cookies or 1 kg of ready-made cookies. When they cool down, you can put them in a box and store them for about 10 days. You can combine butter and lard, the cookies will be more crumbly if you put more butter, and if you want real soft vanilla, then use lard.
