Vanilla.
Vanilla, ingredients:
For the dough:
- 250 g of homemade lard,
- 5 spoons of sugar,
- 2 eggs,
- 1 egg yolk,
- 2 vanilla sugar,
- 100 g of ground walnuts,
- 500 g of flour.
To connect:
- if necessary, apricot jam.
For rolling:
- if necessary, powdered sugar.

Vanilla, preparation:
For the dough:
- Place homemade lard in a suitable container, add sugar, vanilla sugar and beat well with a hand whisk.
- Add eggs, yolks, mix in ground walnuts and mix everything well with a hand whisk. Gradually add flour and knead the dough.
- Put the dough in a plastic bag and leave it in the fridge to rest for half an hour.
- Place the dough on a floured work surface and use a rolling pin to roll it out to the desired thickness (about half a centimeter).
- Use a round mold or a brandy glass to remove the vanilla pods from the dough. Arrange them in a tray lined with parchment paper.
- Bake at 180 degrees for 10-15 minutes (take care not to burn, to preserve the white color).
- Remove the finished vanilla cakes from the oven and let them cool down.
- Combine them with apricot jam and roll them in powdered sugar.
Tip: I used homemade apricot jam, somehow they taste the best that way. Of course, you can use any other jam, marmalade, as you wish. I made vanilla ice cream according to my grandmother's recipe. Store them in a tin box. The longer they stand, the tastier they are.
