Cooking blogs are one of the most popular segments of the internet offer, both in the region and throughout the world. The trend in popularity is obvious and the number of visits to cooking blogs is constantly increasing.
Probably everyone who keeps to himself and thinks he cooks well has at least once wanted to start his own cooking blog... Seems pretty simple, right? You need to know how to cook (and who doesn't think they are the best cook), to have a computer and a mobile phone. Of course, there's the Blogger platform, which we really like, because it's completely free. That's it! I can start a blog! "Hollywood I am coming!"
Is it that simple? Whoever has not tried it, he is probably completely convinced of it! Whoever tried it, in the first few days and maybe months, was quite sure. Those who have been in the story a little longer and have some experience - I'm sure they will shyly tell you that it's not quite like that... Especially if one of the goals of starting a blog was to make some money.
Unfortunately, successful cooking blogs require much more than it seems at the beginning, both from ourselves, in terms of focus and commitment, and also require material investments.
Successful cooking blogs in Serbia, as well as in the world, have real business concepts "behind the scenes", with clear strategies and plans. With precisely defined roles of bloggers and teams that help them achieve the mentioned plans. If not, then it's pure luck and the exception that proves the rule.
What would be the rules that cooking blogs should follow in order to be successful?
- be original
- never give up
- post only original content
- show your personal touch
- make friends around you and help each other
- be present and available on social media
- keep your blog clean and streamlined, easy to navigate
- allow commenting on your blog
- enable your visitors to follow you via RSS feed or via e-mail subscription
- allow visitors to easily share your post on social networks
- post on the blog only the best recipes
- don't "adorn yourself with other people's feathers", use other people's recipes and photos, always post a link to the text or recipe that inspired you
- don't sell your articles, you should create your own brand with your blog
- write texts regularly
- start a blog on your domain (don't use free blogging platforms)
- design a blog on the WordPress CMS platform
- learn about search engine positioning - SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
- post your recipes on well-known portals that allow it
- learn how to make mouth-watering photos
And finally, it seems most importantly, the 20th rule, which ALL cooking blogs should respect is:
