Ljuskavci (homemade žu-žu), here is an old recipe that I wrote down from my mother-in-law and she from her mother.
Flakes (homemade žu-žu), ingredients:
- 500 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 3-4 teaspoons of oil
- 2 teaspoons of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 700-800 grams of flour
- 150 g of margarine or homemade fat (for coating the dough)
Ljuskavci (homemade žu-žu), preparation:
- Knead the dough from the given ingredients (milk, eggs, oil, sugar, salt) and let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
- Then roll out the dough as thin as possible and coat it with melted margarine or fat.
- Fold the dough over (all four sides), then let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
- Repeat this three times (coat the stretched crusts with melted margarine or fat) and fold.
- After 10 minutes, roll out the dough to a thickness of 5-7 mm.
- Cut into cubes and fry in fat on one side and then on the other. Place the fried scallops on kitchen paper to absorb excess fat.
- Serve with yogurt, sour cream or cheese...
