Some avoid it, and some REALLY like it spicy. Scientists have good news for all eaters hot peppers.

How spicy can you eat? In addition to improving taste, hot peppers also cure diseases that are difficult to treat with drugs.

Chili, cayenne and pepperoni are hot peppers from the Capsicum family. They are popular thanks to their spicy taste, which is an indispensable part of many dishes and sauces.

Peppers owe their hot taste to a special ingredient called capsaicin. The more capsaicin it contains, the hotter the pepper. In larger amounts, capsaicin burns the lips, tongue and throat and makes you cry. Big fans of peppery and hot dishes are Indians, Vietnamese, Mexicans and Hungarians.

Most people, however, like a moderately hot taste that enhances food and stimulates digestion. And it's not just that – chillies provide numerous health benefits.

Why are hot peppers healthy?

They have an anti-inflammatory effect: Thanks to capsaicin, chili has anti-inflammatory properties. Capsaicin strongly blocks substance P, which is associated with inflammatory processes in the body. Regular intake of chilies can serve as an excellent prevention of arthritis.

They prevent pain: The latest research confirms that chili effectively reduces pain caused by arthritis, psoriasis and diabetic neuropathy.

Promotes the health of the cardiovascular system: Hot peppers have been shown to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels and prevent the formation of blood clots. Cultures that widely use chili have much lower rates of heart disease, stroke, and thrombosis.

They improve digestion: According to Ayurveda, the spicy taste stimulates the appetite and improves digestion. Food that is digested well provides the body with the necessary nutrients and energy, while food that is not digested well creates toxins. Therefore, according to Ayurveda, good digestion is crucial for our health.

"Food" our immunity: The bright red color of chili peppers indicates a high content of beta-carotene, or pro-vitamin A. Just a few teaspoons of chili a day gives the body extra doses of vitamins C and A, which are important in preventing infections.

They prevent prostate cancer: Prostate cancer research has shown that capsaicin acts as a real "killer" of cancer cells. After four weeks of capsaicin treatment, the growth of prostate cancer cells was stopped in most animals, and the size of the tumors was significantly reduced. For the prevention of prostate cancer, it is recommended to take 400 mg of capsaicin three times a week.

Promotes weight loss: The hot taste of chili peppers increases thermogenesis - the production of heat in the body. The process of thermogenesis requires the consumption of additional calories, which results in the loss of fat deposits.

They prevent stomach ulcers: For a long time, it was mistakenly believed that eating spicy foods caused stomach ulcers. Today it is confirmed that hot peppers not only do not cause ulcers, but prevent them because they kill harmful bacteria and stimulate the production of protective gastric juices.

They help with type 2 diabetes: Regular intake of chilies can prevent type 2 diabetes. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows that regular intake of chilies reduces the body's need for insulin secretion, which reduces blood sugar levels after a meal.

An easy way to add hot pepper to your menu

A very simple way to add hot flavor to your daily menu is to use fresh or pickled hot pepperoni or ready-made chili sauces with the dish. You can also use chili powder, sprinkling it on dishes.

What amount of hot pepper should be taken?

The intake of hot pepper depends on the percentage of capsaicin it contains - which can be seen by its spiciness. Although hot pepper is very medicinal, do not overdo it. As with everything, a golden mean is needed in the consumption of hot taste. Ayurveda says that excessive intake of bitter can have negative health consequences.

Usually, it is enough to ingest 1-2 teaspoons of hot pepper per day.
