Cakes with homemade apple yeast - Gvozdena Živković - Recipes and Cookbook online

Cookies with home-made apple yeast - some difficult times have come, as God gave us, we find a solution in every situation.

It happened now that there was a shortage of yeast, so I tried and succeeded in making yeast from apples.

To make this yeast, you need patience, you need one medium pickled apple, 2 dl of water, 1 spoon of sugar, 6 spoons of wheat flour and 2 spoons of corn flour.

First day. Wash the apple, clean it from the seeds, cut it into smaller pieces, add sugar and cover it with lukewarm water. Cover the container and leave it in a warm place for 24 hours.

Another day. Drain the water from the apples through a colander. In a jar with a lid, add both flours, mix them well, add apple water while stirring. When you get a mass without lumps like for pancakes, close it with a lid and leave it in a warm place for 24 hours.

Third day. You can use yeast. When using yeast, always leave 1/4 in the jar. Add another 3 tablespoons of flour and water to make a pancake-like batter. Close the container and refrigerate until ready to use.

Cakes with homemade apple yeast, ingredients:

  • 300 grams of wheat flour
  • a bit of salt
  • 1 tablespoons of oil
  • apple yeast
  • 1,5 dl of lukewarm water i
  • oil for frying

Cake with homemade apple yeast, preparation:

  • Mix salt into the flour, add the prepared yeast and oil. Knead the wheat dough with lukewarm water, leave it in a warm place for at least an hour to rise.
  • Heat the oil, wet your hands with water and shape the dough into soft balls. Gently lower them into the heated oil.
  • Fry them briefly on both sides. Place them on kitchen paper.

Tips:

  • These are lean mekika, you can serve them with ajvar or sweet with jam or sugar, as desired.
  • If you knead bread with this yeast, it needs more time to rise. It is good to knead the bread in the evening and bake it in the morning.
  • They are very tasty, we really liked them. I have yeast in the house, but I tried "God forbid".
