Gifts for children from the Institute of Oncology
Belgrade, April 1, 2016 - Dejan Mijailović, owner of the restaurant "Petica" and holder of the METRO title champion of humanity In 2015, with the help of METRO Cash & Carry Serbia, it continues its humanitarian activities. Dejan decided to redirect the entire prize fund of the competition for the most humane restaurateur to those who need help. On this occasion, employees from the restaurant visited the pediatrics department of the Institute of Oncology and delighted the children with gift packets.
At the end of 2015, Dejan organized a theater performance, a mini music concert and the distribution of packages to children with disabilities who play sports, as well as children without parental care, in his restaurant. This year, for the second time, children who play sports within the Sports Association of Persons with Disabilities in Belgrade, as well as children without parental care from the Shelter in Banjica, were happy. Also, in a big action to help abandoned animals, over 450 kilograms of food was donated to those people who take care of dogs and cats on the street in Belgrade, Pančevo, Srbobran, Obrenovac and Valjevo.
During the last campaign, the little ones from the Institute of Oncology received toys, board games, coloring books, notebooks and other gifts that will brighten up and make their hospital days a little easier.
According to the votes of the audience and the evaluations of the expert jury, in September 2015, the restaurant "Petica" was declared the winner of the competition METRO Champions of Humanity 2015. The owner of this restaurant, Dejan Mijailović, who has been providing a humane contribution to his community for many years, won the main prize - a check in the amount of 3000 euros in dinar equivalent, for purchases at METRO Cash & Carry distribution centers, which this champion decided to invest in new humanitarian works.
The humanity of the owners and employees of this restaurant is known to many. In "Petica" food was prepared for all the heroes who built embankments during last year's floods, many abandoned animals were adopted, help was collected for children from the Children's Shelter in Belgrade, and through numerous other activities smiles were returned to the faces of all those who were not loved events shook faith in a better life.
The METRO Champions of Humanity Award 2015, the leading international wholesale company METRO Cash & Carry, puts the spotlight on people who usually do not receive recognition of this kind, so that their stories are heard and motivate the entire community in further spreading humanity.
