Whether it's a cozy cafe, a family hotel or a hairdresser around the corner, small private businesses visited by millions of people every day play a key role in the development of the local community. To honor their enduring commitment and achievements in business, METRO is celebrating a special day around the world. The first "Own Business Day" will be celebrated on October 11, 2016 in all countries where the company operates, and aims to draw attention to the importance of entrepreneurs who will present their special offers on that day.

The first Day of own business will be held on October 11, 2016 in all countries where METRO operates, potentially 21 million professional clients of the company, and those who are not in the METRO Cash & Carry system will also have the opportunity to participate. The company intends to establish an annual global event to be held every second Tuesday in October, with the aim of giving special recognition to its own business and to support entrepreneurs in building a strong network with others who share the same passion.

"We are convinced that with the global campaign and the various activities that accompany it, we will make our own businesses receive even greater recognition, as well as that the emotional connection between these businesses will be further promoted in the public," said Philippe Palazzi, Marketing Manager and Operating Partner of METRO Cash & Carry.

Metro celebrates yes

As part of the campaign in Serbia, all entrepreneurs need to do is to use a specially created platform www.dan-sopstvenog-poslovanja.rs set up their special offer for October 11, which will delight their regular users and at the same time attract new ones. METRO will support them, inspire them and offer additional marketing tools and promotional material, so that the owners of their own business can continue to build the foundation of social life, constantly creating conditions for new jobs and economic growth.

Also, one of the activities that will precede the celebration of October 11, is that all the company's employees join and participate in the "#ownie" campaign, in which they will visit independent entrepreneurs in the area and take popular selfies. The hashtag that will accompany this campaign for Serbia is #ownieRS. The most active will receive a prize in the amount of 10.000 euros.
