We are what we eat - by Cvijeta Mesić | Recipes & Cookbook Online - What should I cook today?

we-are-what-we-eat-Flower-of-the-month-recipes-and-cookbook-onlineOnce the process of creating a human being is complete, from a single-celled fertilized egg to a multi-celled developed baby, the need for animal food is largely over. The child receives this food through the mother's blood and milk and it is needed to shorten the development process and to recapitulate the entire course of biological evolution in the womb in the first year of the child's development. But when he reaches the level of a human being, he should start consuming human food, which primarily consists of grains and vegetables. When it comes to food of animal quality, it is better to take species that are older in origin. Thus, fish and seafood are more suitable than chicken or turkey, and these are better than beef and pork. If animal food is taken regularly, aquatic animals are better than land animals, especially mammals, because they are the furthest from us in the evolutionary chain.

The structure of human teeth is one of the indicators of the most natural way of human nutrition. The thirty-two teeth that man has include twenty molars for grinding grains, stone fruits and seeds; eight incisors for cutting vegetables and fruits; four fangs for tearing animal and sea food. This shows us that the same proportions of grain, vegetable and animal food intake are best for our body, i.e. 5 parts of grain, stone fruits and seeds, 2 parts of vegetables and fruits and 1 part of animal food; that is, everything that has plant quality to animal food should be 7:1. Unlike humans, carnivores such as wolves, cats or sharks, etc. - which have the most canines, take much more food of animal origin. Also, if we take into account the length of the intestines - in carnivores (they are much shorter than in humans), we can conclude that the human constitution is adapted primarily for the consumption of plant food, especially in a continental climate. Of course, this does not mean that one should never take food of animal origin, because it represents variety and enjoyment for people in good health, but it is considered optional.

The conclusion is that the macrobiotic way of eating includes awareness and presence in one's own life, knowledge and responsibility for what we eat, because food is our daily companion on our life's journey and a lot depends on our decisions, what that journey will be like. We ourselves create illness and health and we must be responsible to ourselves if we want our life to be quality and joyful.
