Belgrade, November 15, 2018. - Last night, in the residence of the Embassy of Canada in Serbia, with the support of the METRO Cash & Carry company, a dress rehearsal of the young chefs gathered around the Junior Chefs Club of Serbia was held, as a final preparation before going to the culinary competition 2018 Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup, in Luxembourg.
The most prestigious culinary competition in the world - Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup – is held for the thirteenth time in a row in Luxembourg, from November 22 to 27, under the auspices of the World Association of Chefs.
As the only team representative from Serbia, in the category of regional teams, a team of young chefs from the Junior Chefs Club will compete, who have already shown that they have great professional potential and a great gastronomic future, having won a bronze medal at this world competition in 2014, and they confirmed their success with another team bronze at the Culinary Olympiad in Erfurt in 2016.
The talent that our young chefs have was also recognized by Her Excellency, Canada's ambassador to Serbia, Kati Čaba, who greeted numerous guests, representatives of the diplomatic corps, media and companies in Serbia, who gathered to provide support and attend the festive event. The junior team of chefs has been preparing for this competition for two whole years, since the end of the previous Olympics, while active training has lasted for the last year. During that period, the METRO HoReCa Center in Belgrade was the place where the Junior Chefs Club competition team had the opportunity to develop and improve their knowledge and skills - through numerous lectures, practices with some of the biggest domestic and international chefs, and with approximately 480 hours of active cooking. and training with their instructors and mentors.
"Investing in young people, stimulating young colleagues and their education, represents the most long-term investment, which will certainly raise the level of quality of the culinary profession in Serbia, but also increase its gastronomic wealth." The upcoming competition is one of a series of challenges and opportunities to measure knowledge and skills, in extremely strong global competition," said the President of the Junior Chefs Club of Serbia, Nikola Biševac, who thanked the hosts, the Embassy of Canada, as well as the companies METRO, McCain , Kotanyi and Gastromaster, on support.
The Serbian team will present itself with an exhibition of teamwork in the form of a cold table, composed of two categories - "Pastry art" and "Culinary Art" - with a total of 5 different sections. Through all this, it will be necessary to demonstrate different cooking techniques, as well as techniques for shaping, serving and composition of food.
Yesterday's formal reception at the residence of the Embassy of Canada showed that the young chefs gathered around the Junior Chefs Club of Serbia are fully ready to answer this not-so-easy task, which awaits them in Luxembourg in a few days.
