Belgrade, April 27, 2016 - The Junior Chefs' Club of Serbia in the action "Young Chefs without Borders", which takes place from April 25 to 29, 2016, prepares, delivers and serves 1500 healthy and hot meals thanks to the funds from the donation METRO groups for projects to help refugees.
In cooperation with the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia, this action is carried out in the reception center in Krnjača, through which about 200 refugees pass daily, for whom the young chefs of Serbia prepare, both for lunch and for dinner, a meal consisting of cooked food , salad and fresh fruit.
The refugee crisis is a huge challenge for Europe. Only together can we alleviate the acute problems that refugees are going through and facilitate their stay in our country. The goal of the action is to afford refugees from war-torn areas who are away from their homes for a long time, in the arduous search for a new hearth, to afford at least one healthy and warm meal, which they do not often have the opportunity to have on their way through Europe.
The METRO group has allocated funds in the amount of one million euros for programs to help refugees in all countries that are indirectly affected by this crisis. The Junior Chefs' Club of Serbia, which is otherwise known as the Association of Young Chefs, in addition to activities in the field of gastronomy, is actively involved in humanitarian work and activities through which they help those who need help the most.
"The refugee crisis is an excellent test for all of us, to ask ourselves who we are and what kind of people we are and how willing we are to help refugees overcome these difficult days," said the coordinators of this action.
