A traditional recipe with a touch of modern taste will create a delicacy that hardly anyone can resist. All those who cannot start their morning without milk will especially like this idea.

ingredients:

For the caramel sauce:

 • 200 g of sugar
 • 60 ml of water
 • 60 g of butter, cut into pieces
 • 125 ml of sweet cream
 • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

For sutlijaš

 • 125 g of rice (preferably arborio)
 • 800 ml milk
 • half a stick of vanilla
 • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar

Preparation:

In a medium-sized saucepan, pour enough water to just cover the amount of sugar you have. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, but do not stir. Cook until the sugar completely melts and turns into caramel, i.e. it turns golden. Be careful though, it's better to remove it while it's golden than to be late and take it off the heat when it gets too dark and the taste will be too bitter. Again, if you take it off the heat too soon, your sauce will be too watery. The best is literally the "golden mean".

It will take 5-8 minutes. Do not move from the stove the whole time because the sugar can burn very easily, so keep an eye on the pan for a few minutes, and then move on to the next step.

Remove the pan from the heat, then stir in the butter, slowly. Be careful when adding any ingredient to boiling sugar, as it will react violently. That's why it's important to decide on a deeper dish before you start preparing.

Then add the sweet cream and mix. Allow the sauce to cool completely and thicken.

You will prepare sutlijash by first washing the rice, and then boiling it in a triple pot of water. Drain it, then put it in a separate pan, add sugar, cover with milk and cook until it boils.

Serving:

Pour it into bowls or pots, like traditional old pots that will remind you of your childhood, cover with caramel and add a pinch of salt on top.

Enjoy!
