1. Red meat and meat products

Research shows that excessive consumption of red meat increases the chances of developing cancer. In addition, meat preserved by smoking, curing, salting or meat containing chemical preservatives is associated with an increased risk of colon cancer. According to a WHO report, just 50 grams of processed meat per day increases the chance of colon cancer by as much as 18 percent.

Most processed meats contain a carcinogenic ingredient known as sodium nitrite, which is used to give packaged meat a bright red color and appear fresh. Sausages, bacon, salami, hot dogs, pates, and various other meat products contain these chemical preservatives, colors and additives that are supposed to make them long-lasting and attractive to the eye, and which are cancer-causing agents.

2. Fatted salmon

Fish, especially salmon, is one of the healthiest foods in the world because it is rich in proteins and fatty acids that strengthen the heart. Also, this fish is good for joints, tissue and bones.

However, this refers to "wild" salmon that live and feed in nature, and not to farmed salmon in a pond, which contain much lower amounts of vitamin D and a large amount of various contaminating and carcinogenic substances, such as PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls). , pesticides and antibiotics.

3. Canned tomatoes

Tomatoes are one of the healthiest foods because they contain antioxidants such as lycopene, lutein, beta carotene and choline and are an extremely rich source of vitamins A, C and folic acid.

However, canning tomatoes has unfavorable properties and causes cancer. The inside of the packaging contains bisphenol-A (BPA), a chemical that acts like estrogen and disrupts the body's hormonal activity. Research links BPA with heart disease, intestinal damage, infertility, and shows an increased risk of breast and prostate cancer.

4. Apples and other types of "dirty" fruit

According to a study by the US Environmental Working Group, the food that contains the most pesticides on average is apples. As many as 98 percent of the 700 apple samples tested contained pesticides. Other highly contaminated foods include grapes, strawberries, potatoes and oranges.

Of the tested samples, more than 90% percent contain traces of pesticides. In addition to being toxic to humans, pesticides can increase the risk of some types of cancer, and some studies show that maternal exposure can increase the risk of lower IQ and hyperkinetic disorder in children. So, make sure you wash your fruits and vegetables well.

5. White flour

Refined white flour is all around us and is the most common ingredient in any food, but the high amount of carbohydrates is a real cause for concern. One study showed that the consumption of refined carbohydrates increases the risk of breast cancer in women by an incredible 220 percent.

Food with a high glycemic index (GI) is responsible for a sudden spike in sugar in the body, which, in addition to insulin resistance, can cause the progression and spread of cancer.

6. Potato snacks

Chips, french fries and similar fried products contain trans fats and are therefore risky for human health. Even a very small portion of potato snacks is enough to raise cholesterol levels significantly.

Various studies have shown that these foods also contain a significant amount of the carcinogenic substance acrylamide, which is formed at high temperatures, i.e. during frying.

7. Popcorn from the microwave

Popcorn may be the healthiest snack in the world, but it's made on the stove, in a pot. Although popcorn from a microwave oven is ready faster and comes in a variety of flavors and aromas, it is the unhealthiest choice when it comes to snacks.

According to research, chemicals found in the inner lining of the bag, including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), can cause liver, testicular and pancreatic cancer. When cooking popcorn in the microwave, the chemicals vaporize and retreat into the popcorn's interior. In addition, diacetyl found in this popcorn has been proven to damage the lungs.

8. Dietary products

Obesity can be the cause of various diseases such as some types of tumors, hypertension or diabetes. However, although diet products can help you lose unwanted pounds, they tend to contain aspartame (artificial sweetener), artificial colors, chemicals and GMOs that further increase the risk of cancer.

If you want to lose weight, we advise you to reduce regular meals and include physical activities in your everyday life, instead of reaching for diet foods.

9. Carbonated drinks

Carbonated drinks contain a large amount of calories, sugar and added ingredients, such as artificial colors that are carcinogenic and have no nutritional value. Common chemical additives such as caramel coloring and its derivative 4-methylimidazole (4-MI) have been linked to cancer.

Research conducted by the University of Minnesota shows that people who drink at least two sodas a week almost double their risk of pancreatic cancer.

10. alcohol

Alcoholic beverages are scientifically proven to cause cancer, but little is said about it. The risk of cancer is not only increased in people who suffer from alcohol addiction, but those who periodically, but regularly, drink an alcoholic beverage are also at risk.

Alcohol increases the risk of seven different types of cancer, including breast and oral cancer. The most common types of cancer in people who consume alcohol are pancreatic and liver cancer.
