Excerpt from the review by Dr. Milan Gulic:

"...The best expert on the issue of volunteerism among Serbs, Dr. Milan Micić, wrote the book that is in front of you. Himself a descendant of volunteers from Banija, Dr. Micić, with his work so far, has tried to fill the gap in the culture of the Serbian people's memory of the volunteers from the First World War, to explain what risks they consciously assumed by becoming volunteers, what danger loomed over their families, houses and estates. This time, Dr. Micić tried to present the volunteer issue among Serbs who lived and worked throughout America within the cover of a book. Perfect knowledge of the volunteer issue, along with an exceptional gift of writing, made this book by Dr. Micić a read that is easy to read, almost in one breath, and from which, again, a lot can be learned.

With this book, Dr. Micić has once again shown his many talents - exceptional scholarly thoroughness, careful collection of testimonies, which only an interested descendant of a volunteer from the volunteer settlement (in addition to being a historian by profession) can have, and above all, an exceptional literary gift."
