Belgrade, November 26, 2015 - METRO & CPG cooking school has started this season with a new cycle called "Diplomatic Edition" in which foreign embassies in Belgrade present their specialties. In the METRO Horeca Center, the Norwegian Embassy had the honor of being the first to present the gastronomic delights of its country.
With the help of Horeca Center head chef Uroš Urošević and Dejan Maksimović, chef of the Norwegian embassy, the main participants in the preparation of Norwegian specialties were the Ambassador of Norway with his family, embassy employees as well as representatives of Norwegian companies in Serbia.
The topic was "norwegian christmas table", and the menu included the indispensable salmon in combination with an omelette and chives, which is very reminiscent of our scrambled eggs with onions, then as the main course, pork ribs with stewed cabbage and potatoes, an excellent combination of salty and sweet flavors, and finally desserts – norwegian-style sutlijaš. An interesting custom is to put an almond in a saucer for Christmas and the one who finds it in his portion will be lucky throughout the year, similar to our garlic, which is an indication that traditions are intertwined in some ways.
As always, the gathering was spiced up by the Tikveš winery with its top wines. All participants had the opportunity to enjoy the red variety "Vranec", the white wine "Muscat Ottonel" as well as the pink "Alexandria Couve", which were ideally combined with the specialties that all present had the opportunity to try.
The METRO Cash & Carry Serbia cooking school is organized with the support of the licensed culinary magazine "Jaime" published by the Color Press group. The aim of the Cooking School is to popularize gastronomy in Serbia and introduce the specialties and flavors of the world's most famous cuisines.
The next gathering and preparation of national specialties is reserved for the Embassy of Switzerland.
