Belgrade, December 18, 2017 - Credit Agricole Srbija i the company METRO Cash & Carry, in cooperation with partners, organized a New Year's performance in the Sava Center intended for children from socially disadvantaged families. More than 1000 children enjoyed the spectacle called "New Year's Chase", which conveyed the spirit of the upcoming holidays and gift-giving, and helped the youngest and their families feel the support that is always welcome.
Today's performance was held as part of the traditional humanitarian project New Year's Box, which METRO Cash & Carry and Crédit Agricole Srbija implement in cooperation with the Secretariat for Education and Child Protection of the City Administration of the City of Belgrade and the humanitarian organization Food Bank. The project, which has been going on for eight years, is intended to support natural families with sensitive material conditions and to improve the quality of life of their children.
The magical atmosphere was completed by the performance of ballerinas, socializing with Vila Dobrila and the actors, and the greatest joy was caused by New Year's packets full of sweets that were distributed to the children after the socializing.
"As a company driven by values that includes socially responsible business, we invest in children because they are our future. Together with our partners, we have been organizing Villa Dobrila - New Year's Box for nine years, and we bring joy to children from socially disadvantaged families, who will enjoy the NG performance this year as well. I can proudly point out that we donated almost 15.000 packets, which contain food, chocolates and juices", said Kristina Johansson, general director of METRO Cash & Carry Serbia.
In addition to the representatives of the two companies, he greeted children and parents je Slavko Gak, city secretary for education and child protection.
As part of the New Year's box project, so far around 14.300 children in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Kragujevac have received New Year's packages and attended a holiday party with their favorite Villa Dobrila. The multi-year duration of the New Year's Box action is proof of the importance of this project in supporting families facing social and other challenges and raising society's awareness of the need to include everyone who can help.
On this occasion, the organizers agreed that it is important to provide the children with the help they need, as well as to make them happy with such New Year's surprises.
The New Year's box is a continuation of the Magic Breakfast humanitarian action, which provided 70 tons of food for more than 35 schools for children with developmental disabilities from Serbia. During almost a decade of existence, both actions make a significant contribution to improving the quality of life of minor children.
