Crédit Agricole and METRO Cash & Carry made 1000 children happy with New Year's packages
Belgrade, December 10, 2016 - Crédit Agricole Srbija and METRO Cash & Carry Srbija, in cooperation with partners, organized a New Year's show in the Sava Center for children from socially disadvantaged families. More than 1000 children enjoyed the mini-musical called "New Year's Magic", which conveyed the spirit of the upcoming holidays and giving, and contributed to the youngest and their families feeling the support that is always welcome. After the musical, the children were delighted with New Year's gift packages.
Today's performance was held as part of the traditional humanitarian project New Year's Box, which METRO Cash & Carry Srbija and Crédit Agricole Srbija implement in cooperation with the Secretariat for Education and Child Protection of the City Administration of the City of Belgrade and the humanitarian organization Food Bank. The project is intended to support natural families with sensitive material conditions and to improve the quality of life of their children.
In addition to the representatives of the two companies, the event was also attended by Igor Raičević, the city's deputy secretary for education and child protection.
The children watched the performance with enthusiasm and in addition to hanging out with Vila Dobrila and the actors of the musical who entertained them, they were also delighted by New Year's boxes full of sweets, school and hygiene supplies, which were prepared for them by employees from the companies Crédit Agricole Srbija and METRO Cash & Carry Serbia.
The New Year's Box project has been successfully implemented since 2009, and so far 13.300 children in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Kragujevac have received New Year's packages. The multi-year duration of the New Year's Box action is proof of the importance of this project in supporting families facing social and other challenges and raising society's awareness of the need to include everyone who can help.
The New Year's box is a continuation of the humanitarian action Magic breakfast, which the companies Crédit Agricole banka Srbija and METRO Cash & Carry Srbija and the non-governmental organization Banka Hrane organized in April this year. At that time, more than nine tons of food were provided for the needs of schools for children with developmental disabilities, and a total of 62,5 tons since the beginning of the campaign.
