Belgrade, December 22, 2015 - Dejan Mijailović, the owner of the "Petica" restaurant, decided to use the main prize he won within the project - METRO CHAMPIONS OF HUMANITY 2015 for the continuation of humanitarian activities. In his restaurant, Dejan organized a theater performance, a mini music concert and the distribution of packets to children with disabilities who play sports, as well as to children without parental care. The little ones, who enjoyed the New Year's charms, also had the opportunity to hang out and take photos with famous athletes.
The children, who are members of the "Sports Association of People with Disabilities in Belgrade", as well as the children from the Shelter for Children Without Parental Care, enjoyed the theatrical play "Big New Year's Audition" in which young actors from the Novi Sad theater perform. The music group "Neverne Bebe", as well as Bane Lalić and his band MVP, held a mini-concert and made the atmosphere even more fun. Gift packages and, of course, socializing with famous athletes from the Olympic archery team, Jasna Šekarić, Zoran Arunović, Damir Mikec and Andrea Arsović, caused real enthusiasm.
According to the votes of the audience and the evaluations of the expert jury, in September 2015, the restaurant "Petica" was declared the winner of the METRO Champions of Humanity competition 2015. The owner of this restaurant, Dejan Mijailović, who has been providing a humane contribution to his community for many years, won the main prize - a check in the amount of 3000 euros in dinar equivalent for purchases in METRO Cash & Carry distribution centers, which this champion decided to use for new humanitarian works.
"This is the first action in a series, and we intend to organize more humanitarian activities in 2016 and dedicate the award from METRO to those who need it the most." We will spread the won amount over 12 months, and help different vulnerable groups and individuals, some of the ideas are building an animal shelter and supporting talented children. I believe that help is never final, it lives on and expands every day," said the owner of a well-known Belgrade restaurant.
The humanity of the owners and employees of this restaurant is known to many. In "Petica" food was prepared for all the heroes who built embankments during last year's floods, under the roof of this restaurant many abandoned animals found their home, help was collected for the little ones from the Children's Shelter in Belgrade, and through numerous other activities smiles are returning in the face of everyone who has lost faith in a beautiful life.
With the 2015 METRO Champions of Humanity Award, leading international wholesale company, METRO Cash & Carry is putting the spotlight on people who don't usually receive recognition of this kind so that their stories are heard and motivate the entire community to spread humanity.
