Humane action and a little fun

World Bread Day it is traditionally celebrated in many countries every October 16. This food is considered to be most often present at the table, and today the world knows many types of bread, salty and sweet, among which are white, brown, integral, rye, and whole grain bread. The history of bread is very long, and in many cultures it is a staple food in the diet.

On the occasion of celebrating the World Bread Day, the Lesaffre company, in cooperation with the bakery "As", delighted more than 1.500 children placed in homes and centers for children without parental care throughout Serbia with fresh pastries. During one week in October, residents of the homes enjoyed freshly prepared top quality baked goods from the "As" bakery - donuts with jam and cream, rolls, mini butter rolls, Bavarian bread and poppy seed strudel.

As part of the celebration of this year's World Bread Day, media representatives had the opportunity to try and compete in making baguettes in the unique "Lesaffre" bakery center. Host Danijela Buzurović, singer Ana Štajdohar and famous Inspector Blaža showed their baking skills in preparing original French bread, while host Miloš Maksimović was in charge of good mood.

"We are continuing the tradition started last year when, on the eve of this international holiday, we donated pastries to children from homes and centers for children without parental care." Continuous humanity and giving are an important part of our company's business" - said Milena Obradović, marketing manager at the company "Lesaffre", on this occasion.

The competition showed that some media representatives are really talented in preparing the original French baguette, which is not easy to prepare in compliance with all criteria. Under the slogan "Knead it well, take the win", all competitors in the "Lesaffre" bakery center prepared two baguettes each, taking into account the length, weight and appearance of the finished product. Journalist teams named "doughnuts", "rolls" and "salčići" were led by Danijela Buzurović, Ana Štajdohar and Inspector Blaža.

The competition at the "Lesaffre" bakery center was attended by a technologist from the "As" bakery, as well as members of the "Lesaffre" team, which recently represented Serbia for the first time at the "Louis Lesaffre Coupe", the European Bakery Championship. Although our country will miss the World Baking Championship next year, the members of our team gained new knowledge and experience in baking and left a strong impression on influential representatives of the European baking industry.
