Belgrade - Sava center - 17.12.2017. In front of a full Sava Center, the Children's Philharmonic Orchestra held its traditional New Year's gala concert called "Winter Music Magic", which was intended for classical music lovers of all generations. This was the jubilee, tenth "Ten Magnificent" concert, where last night the hits of the Children's Philharmonic were performed - the most popular compositions of various genres.

In addition to popular classics, Strauss, Offenbach, Beethoven, Bach, the repertoire also included music from movie hits such as Star Wars, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean, ... but also recognizable local pop hits, as well as traditional songs, and the orchestra was conducted by Ljubiša Jovanović.

Every year, the Children's Philharmonic presents its soloists, young musicians and winners of numerous awards at national and international competitions. This year, the audience had the opportunity to see and hear the first generation of soloists who are now studying at prestigious academies around the world.

The soloists Jana Jakovljević - violin, Tijana Nikolić - violin and Dušan Jovanović - trumpet gave great performances at last night's concert, with the support of their young colleagues from the Children's Philharmonic.

This year's magic was completed by a charismatic actress Anđelka Prpić who was the host of the program.

Along with the compositions performed by the Children's Philharmonic, the performances were also a musical treat Choir of the Children's Cultural Center Belgrade, under the conductor's baton Nevene Ivanovic, then the performance VIS "Nebograd" a musical group made up of participants of a music workshop intended for people with autism who are accompanied by a piano Marije Dužianić, sang the composition "let it go" from the cartoon Frozen. The audience gave a standing ovation to Rozine's aria from the opera The Barber of Seville, performed by an opera singer Katarina Jovanovic.

A young music star presented himself in Belgrade last night, Marya Thirst who, together with the Children's Philharmonic, sang her second single "Louder Than A Drum", and at the end of the concert, the audience was brought to their feet by the great singers Mari Mari and Saša Vasić who together with all the performers and the audience sang the composition "In a million years".

Certificates of appreciation were also awarded at last night's concert to the Coca Cola Company and the "Novak Djokovic" Foundation and a member of the Children's Philharmonic received a new trumpet Dušan Jovanović from the village of Rgotina near Zaječar.

During the past ten years, the Children's Philharmonic has been recognized as a unique brand in the culture of the region, which initiated cultural exchange and socializing among the youngest. With its famous open-air concerts, such as the performance at Tasmajdan as part of the "Night of Music" event, in front of 10.000 people in the audience and another 5000 who stayed in front of the gates of Tasmajdan, the Children's Philharmonic "started a wave" of similar events and contributed to the popularization of classical music among younger audience.

Last night, the Children's Philharmonic invited visitors to take part in the action to preserve the environment and to help spread awareness about the importance of green areas and to teach children habits that will make them responsible and environmentally aware citizens. The message of last night's action was: "Take care of the lungs of our country even during the holidays!" Don't cut it, but buy a Christmas tree with sod." In accordance with the action, scenography was designed to give the New Year's gala concert a festive spirit. The Christmas trees were put up for a mini-auction, and the audience was invited to make their contribution to the preservation of the environment and to buy Christmas trees with sod to give away or plant in the garden. Proceeds from the sale of Christmas trees go to the Children's Philharmonic.

Music lovers are invited to contact the Children's Philharmonic after the concert by direct message on the Facebook page, because Christmas trees that are not sold before the concert will be available for purchase in the next few days in front of the Sava Center.
