[Media release, Civic Energy Center]

Civic Energy Center (Civic Energy Center) was opened in North Mitrovica as a result of the cooperation of the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society - KFOS and the non-governmental organization Aktiv. The center will provide support to civil initiatives and promote a culture of open dialogue on issues important to citizens living in the north of Kosovo. Within the Civic Energy Center there is also a modern TV studio from which the new television show Sporazoom will be broadcast, which will be the central place for public discussion on the most important topics for life in Kosovo.

Executive Director of the Kosovo Open Society Foundation, Luan Shllaku, emphasized that the civil sector has an irreplaceable role in the development of any social community.

"The time is coming when the so-called third sector, the civil sector, to which belong not only non-governmental organizations, but also every civil initiative, formal or informal, must be even more active and bring new energy, which will be easily recognizable, because it will provide a new and constructive discourse and new initiatives for further democratization of this society. We, and our colleagues from the non-governmental sector, thought that the best way to support such initiatives is to design and equip such a center - the Civic Energy Center, which will have the priority of strengthening democratic principles and creating conditions for dialogue between different social group, in order to get as close as possible to the standards of the European Union. I am convinced that this center will be able to easily connect with various actors at different levels, from individuals to institutions, because that way it will be more powerful, stronger and more influential," Shllaku said.

The non-governmental organization Aktiv will take care of the daily activities of the Civic Energy Center, and the executive director of the NGO Aktiv Miodrag Milićević said that the doors of the center are always open for all initiatives.

"This is a social space where we will nurture an open, honest and civilized dialogue about our life, the life of Serbs in Kosovo, dialogue between ourselves and dialogue with our Albanian neighbors." We will cherish words that call for reason, tolerance, prosperity and equality, and we will try to send messages from here that will be heard by all those who are given the power to decide our lives. What I want to emphasize is that this is by no means the Center of KFOS and Aktiva, but the Center of all of us. An open place for open-minded people, people and organizations who want to work responsibly for the benefit of the common man in Kosovo. Such initiatives will undoubtedly have space to present their ideas, either through one of our programs, or through their own initiatives, for which the doors of this Center are always open."

Twice a month, the area of the Civic Energy Center, built to be multifunctional, is transformed into a TV studio from which a show called Sporazoom will be broadcast throughout Kosovo and the region. The executive production of the show belonged to the Dokukino Foundation.

"The Sporazoom show, our joint product, is the result of the desire to get world-class content on local television. It is a format that, with an experienced presenter and a modern television expression, will open up all topics relevant to this climate. With the considerable experience of local television stations and our vision and creativity, we are determined to build Sporazoom as the most important show that will be produced in the Serbian language in Kosovo. During the hour-long show, twice a month in prime time, you will hear about topics that concern you, you will see stories filmed in your neighborhood, you will have the opportunity to be part of the audience in the studio and, finally, to participate in the show through social networks said the president of the Dokukino Foundation, Darko Soković.

The Civic Energy Center is located in North Mitrovica, at Kralja Petra I, 183a, on the first floor. You can get additional information at the address [email protected] or by calling +381 64 411 7815 or 049 44 55 68.
