Tomato is an excellent source of vitamin A and vitamin C for your baby, but due to its acidity, it is still advised to wait before introducing it because it can be difficult for the baby's stomach. You can later use tomatoes in various combinations as a sauce and dressing for many dishes, and you will be able to find ideas and recipes on the site.

When to introduce tomatoes to the baby?

Tomatoes are generally not recommended to be introduced into a baby's diet before 10 months. So you can introduce it when the baby is 10 months to a year old. The reason for the later introduction is not so much an allergic reaction, as the acid it possesses, which can fall hard on the undeveloped baby's digestive tract.

Tomatoes are actually a fruit and contain a lot of acid that can upset your baby's tummy and cause hives around the mouth or bottom. This is more likely to happen if you serve your baby fresh tomatoes than when you serve cooked tomatoes or tomato sauce.

However, some parents choose to try earlier to introduce tomatoes to the baby's diet around the 8th month, but then I advise you to use fresh tomatoes and to have them in cooked form. When introducing tomatoes, monitor the baby and if a rash appears, it could be a reaction to the acid, as always, texts like this are guidelines, so it's best to get the green light from your pediatrician to introduce some food.

Vitamins, vitamins, vitamins

Tomatoes contain a high concentration of necessary vitamins, mostly vitamin C and vitamin A. In addition, they also contain vitamin K, folic acid, niacin, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium and iron.

How to prepare tomatoes?

You can steam it, but it is recommended to chop it and fry it on a low heat in a little olive oil and then make a porridge out of it. You can also saute it. It is important that you always make your own puree from fresh tomatoes and do not use store-bought ones because they contain sugar, salt, other spices and additives that are not good for your baby.
