Pureed homemade tomatelo - you can use tomatoes left like this as a salad or as an addition to a meal in the winter.
Mashed homemade tomatoes, ingredients:
- 3 kg of tomatoes
- 3 tablespoons of salt (3-4 tablespoons)
- 3 spoons of sugar
- celery leaves (optional)
- identity cards (optional)
- tomato juice (boiled, if needed)
Mashed homemade tomatoes, preparation:
- Wash and peel a firm, ripe tomato, preferably pear-shaped (the easiest way to peel it is to immerse it in hot water for a short time). Leave the smaller ones whole, and cut the larger ones in two and put them in a bowl. Add salt, sugar and celery or parsley leaves and mix gently. Place the tomatoes in well-washed jars, then fill them with cooked tomatoes. Close them well with metal lids, put them in a large vessel, put cloths between the jars, pour water up to under the lids of the jars and heat it until it boils. Then reduce the temperature and let the water run for at least another 20 minutes.
- After that, turn off the stove and leave the jars in the water until they cool down completely. Only then place them with the rest of the winter.
