A simple recipe for chicken with beer. Beer has two important roles: to keep the chicken juicy, and to create a nice, rich sauce while roasting. Serve warm, with mashed potatoes and a bottle of cold beer!
Chicken with beer, ingredients:
- 1,5 kg chicken
- 2 pieces of onion
- 25 g margarine
- 1 bottle light beer
- 1 piece bay leaf
- nutmeg

Chicken with beer, preparation:
- Clean the chicken (remove the neck and entrails), wash well and place on a paper towel to drain well. Cut the chicken into pieces.
- Coarsely chop the onion. Add margarine to the heated pan to melt. Add the chopped onion, and in a covered pan, sauté it until it becomes translucent. Then add the chicken pieces, and fry everything together. Turn the chicken pieces to brown on all sides.
- Transfer the fried chicken from the pan to a baking dish, along with the stir-fry sauce. Pour with beer, add a bay leaf, a little grated nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, you can add some spices for dishes, or fresh vegetables (carrots, parsley root, parsnips).
- Bake in the oven at 175 C for approximately 45 minutes, until most of the liquid boils.
- Serve the chicken pieces on a warmed plate, with the addition of mashed potatoes, topped with the cooking juice.
