Chicken gyros - gyros is something that each of us first tries and falls in love with on vacation in Greece. I have never tried to make it at home, but this first attempt was more than successful 🙂

The chicken gyros in a pita bun was real and we enjoyed it. I used boneless drumsticks, you can also use a combination of pork and chicken, be sure to leave it in the marinade for a couple of hours and fry it in a pan with all the marinade.

Chicken gyros - gyros is something that each of us first tries and falls in love with on vacation in Greece. I have never tried to make it at home, but this first attempt was more than successful 🙂

  • 500 g of chicken meat (chicken fillet and boneless drumsticks)
  • 2 spoons of mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of herbal spice mix
  • 1 spoon of oregano
  • 1 tablespoon curry
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 spoon of allspice
  1. Cut the chicken fillet into sticks and add mustard, oil, soy sauce and spices. It is best to leave it all in the fridge for at least an hour or two (if you are not very hungry) and when the chicken has absorbed all the ingredients, fry them in a pan. Stir the meat all the time so that it is nicely fried and does not burn.
  2. For gyros, use homemade gyros pie.
  3. As a side dish, prepare French fries, chop onion into rings, maybe ketchup, mayonnaise or tzatziki salad.
