Swiss chard pie, an old traditional recipe. Just so you know, I didn't forget the eggs in the ingredients, this pie can be done without eggs, it's perfect!

My grandmother Sava prepared in the simplest way. Fat, cheese, acid (it's sour milk), salt, zest (it's nettle), and no yeast.

Trust me, she was perfect.

She would cut nettles (that is, embers), she would add acid (that is, sour milk), salt, whole cheese (that is, cheese made from uncooked milk, because all the fat remains in it). And she didn't have a scale, she measured everything roughly - and everything she prepared was perfect.

She mostly prepared old dishes, pies, raštan, breads from Paor ovens, she cooked excellent stew with starch.

And this old sideboard drawer is a legacy of my grandmother Sava. If a drawer could talk...

Pie with chard, old traditional recipe, ingredients:

  • 1 cup of oil,
  • 300 g of cheese,
  • 2 dl sour cream,
  • 300 g of Swiss chard,
  • salt to taste
  • 2 dl yogurt
  • 1 bag of dry yeast i
  • flour (enough so that the mixture is neither very thick nor thin, I put about 500 gr).

Pie with chard, old traditional recipe, preparation:

  • Chop the Swiss chard, add sour cream, cheese, yogurt, salt, yeast, and finally flour.
  • Mix everything well, grease the pan, pour the mixture and bake in a heated oven, until nicely browned.
