The apple pie is designed to be baked in a 28 cm diameter baking tray with removable sides. It looks like a real American pie, but the taste is quite reminiscent of the Balkans and lazy pie...

  • 125 g of butter
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 1 piece of egg
  • 0,5 piece of lemon juice
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 3 cups of milk
  • 250 g of flour
  • 7 pieces of apples (larger, or 10 smaller)
  • 5 spoons of sugar
  • 200 g of raisins
  • 0,5 piece of lemon juice
  • 1 bag of cinnamon
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar
  1. Cut the butter into cubes and mix it in a deep bowl with 100 g of sugar, 250 g of flour, 1 egg, juice of half a lemon, a pinch of salt and 3 large spoons of milk. Knead a smooth, soft and creamy dough. Put the dough in a bag (smaller for the freezer) and put it in the freezer to harden.
  2. While the dough sets in the freezer, prepare the filling. Peel the apples, remove the seeds and cut them into slices (of medium size). Combine apples, 5 large spoons of sugar, 200 g of raisins, juice of half a lemon, a bag of cinnamon and a bag of vanilla sugar in a deep bowl. Stew the filling over low heat until the apple juice evaporates and they become soft.
  3. When the filling is ready, set it aside to cool. During this time, divide the dough into 2 parts. Return one portion to the freezer. Roll out the second part of the dough in the shape of a circle, so that it is larger than the edges of the baking sheet. Transfer the dough to the greased baking sheet, so that the edges stick to the sides of the baking sheet. Prick the dough all over with a fork, so that it is baked as well as possible. Put the dough in an oven heated to 170 degrees C and bake until the edges are golden (the dough does not need to be fully baked, just browned).
  4. Remove the dough from the oven and transfer the filling from the spoon over the dough. Distribute it everywhere equally both in the middle and on the edges.
  5. Remove the second half of the dough from the freezer. Stretch it to the same size circle as the previous one. From the thus stretched dough, make strips, about 1,5 cm thick. Arrange the strips vertically and then horizontally over the filling so that the pie looks like a tartare. Leave some dough from the strips and roll it through the sacks to make a long round strip with which to trim the edges of the cakes. When the stake is covered with dough, press the edges with a fork to make it even on all sides.
  6. Brush the tarabice with a little milk and sprinkle with sugar to give it a crystalline appearance when baking. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees until golden brown. Serve warm or cold with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a perfect combination of flavors. Enjoy the wonderful taste and smell!!
