This is a traditional Serbian recipe. Vegetable pie is served warm, with an extra piece of white cheese, yogurt or sour milk.

  • 500 g of greens
  • 500 g of bark for gibanica
  • 500 g white full-fat cheese
  • 250 g cream
  • 3 pieces of eggs
  • oil (a little)
  1. Wash the greens well and let them drain. Finely chop, then place in a bowl, add salt, and let stand for an hour. After an hour, drain again.
  2. Put the cheese in a bowl and mash it. Add the separated yolks of 3 eggs and cream to the mashed cheese. Beat the egg whites firmly. Add the beaten egg whites to the mixture of cheese, egg yolks and cream. Add milk and salt to taste.
  3. In a greased tray, first put 2-3 crusts as the bottom base. Put a few spoonfuls of stuffing over them. Then continue alternately. Top the filling with 2-3 crusts, then a few spoonfuls of the filling, until the filling is used up.
  4. Coat the top layer of the crust with oil, place in a hot oven at 180 C, and bake for about 40 minutes.
  5. Serve warm, with yogurt or sour milk. You can also serve a piece of cheese, if you wish.
