Braids with jam - a great snack for little ones, as well as for adults who love sweet dough.

  • 1 cube of fresh yeast
  • 700 grams of flour
  • 5 dl of milk
  • 2 dl oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • jam (if needed)
  • powdered sugar (if needed)
  1. Mix the yeast in a little milk with a teaspoon each of flour and sugar and let it rise. Mix half of the flour with the remaining milk, then add the remaining sugar, salt and oil. Add the added yeast and knead a medium-hard dough, gradually adding the remaining flour.
  2. Leave the dough in a warm place to rise for about 30 minutes, and divide it into four equal parts.
  3. Roll out each part of the dough to the thickness of your finger and cut into squares of the desired size. Cut the ends of the square into strips on both sides, and leave the middle whole (so that we can fill).
  4. Then spread the middle with your favorite jam (from plums, apricots, rosehips, it just needs to be thicker, so that the filling does not leak out during baking). Weave the cut strips one over the other to get a braided look. Repeat the process until the prepared dough is used up.
  5. Bake in a heated oven at 220 C for 10 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 200 C and bake until the braids are golden brown.
  6. Sprinkle the finished braids with powdered sugar and serve.
