Podvarak with chicken drumsticks.

Podvarak with chicken drumsticks, ingredients:

  • 1 large head of sauerkraut,
  • 2 heads of onion,
  • if necessary fat (or oil),
  • 3 cloves of garlic,
  • spices to taste (salt, pepper and dry spices),
  • 2 bay leaves,
  • 3 drumsticks with carabatak,
  • water if necessary.

Podvarak with chicken drumsticks, preparation:

  • Season drumsticks and carabatakes with dry spices and set aside.
  • Fry finely chopped onion in hot oil, add chopped cabbage, pepper, add bay leaf, pour a little water and cook on moderate heat for about 30 minutes (with occasional addition of water, because it evaporates during stewing).
  • Salt to taste.
  • Pour the mixture into a tray (or pan, baking tray). Arrange drumsticks over the cabbage and bake in a well-heated oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes. Then, turn the drumsticks so that the other side is also nicely baked. Bake for 20 minutes at 200 degrees.
  • Take out the drumsticks, add finely chopped garlic to the cabbage, mix, return to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes. Remove the finished cabbage from the oven, serve with drumsticks.

Tip: serve with proja or hot scone. If the cabbage is a little more salty or sour, after chopping it, pour hot water over it, let it stand for ten minutes, then drain the cabbage well. One more tip - it is better to use lard for frying than oil, the soup will be tastier.
