Scones made of spelled flour along the lines of scones with cheese. Instead of regular flour, I used whole wheat spelled.
When they are baked a little harder, they are very crispy and tasty.
Scones made of spelled flour, ingredients:
- 250 g of whole spelled flour
- 250 g of feta cheese (or any other of your choice)
- 120 g of softened butter, margarine or 100 g of fat
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1-2 tablespoons of water
For sprinkling:
- grated hard cheese and cumin
Scones made of spelled flour, preparation:
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and knead the dough.
- Add a few tablespoons of water if necessary.
- Instead of water, you can pour milk, yogurt, sour milk.
- Wrap the dough well and let it rest for about an hour in the refrigerator.
- Roll it out on a floured surface and take out scones of the desired size.
- The dough should not be thick, scones are tastier when the dough is thinner (1 cm is perfectly fine).
- Sprinkle the scones with grated cheese and cumin.
- Bake them in a heated oven at 200-220 degrees for about 15 minutes.
Notes:
- You can coat the scones with beaten egg and sprinkle with seeds if you wish.
- If the cheese is not salty enough, add salt to the dough.
