Lean strudel - Vesna Pavlović - Recipes and Cookbook online

Lean strudel.

Lean strudel, ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 350 g of flour,
  • 1 bag of dry yeast (10 g),
  • 3 tablespoons of oil,
  • 1 spoons of sugar,
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar,
  • 200 ml of water,
  • grated lemon zest (to taste)
  • 1 pinch of salt.

For the filling:

  • 4 tablespoons of apricot jam,
  • 100 g of ground walnuts.

To coat:

  • oil if necessary.

For sprinkling:

  • if necessary, powdered sugar,
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar.

Lean strudel, preparation:

For the dough:

  • Pour flour into a deep bowl, add yeast, salt and mix.
  • Then, pour lukewarm water, add oil, sugar, vanilla sugar, grated lemon peel and knead the dough.
  • Oil the dough on both sides, cover with a clean kitchen towel and leave to rise.
  • Knead the resulting dough once more and cover it again with a clean kitchen towel, then leave it to rise once more.
  • Place the dough on a floured work surface, knead it and roll it into a rectangle with a rolling pin.
  • Spread with jam and sprinkle with ground nuts.
  • Carefully roll up and place in an oblong mold lined with parchment paper.
  • Cover with a nylon bag and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • During this time, turn on the oven and preheat it to 250 degrees.
  • Coat with oil and bake at 200 degrees for 40 minutes (reduce the temperature if necessary so that the strudel does not burn).
  • Remove the finished strudel from the oven, coat it with oil and let it cool.
  • Place the strudel on a plate.
  • Combine powdered sugar with vanilla sugar and sprinkle the strudel while it is still hot.
  • Cut the strudel into pieces of the desired size, serve and serve.

Tip: it's fasting time, so I suggest you make this delicious strudel and enjoy yourself. I used homemade apricot jam. You can use any jam of your choice.
