Fish fillets with fries - even those who don't like fish, generally like hake fillets.

  • 1 kg of white potatoes (peeled and chopped for french fries)
  • 1 kg hake fillet
  • 250 g of white flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 glass of beer
  • a few drops of lemon juice
  • landing
  • 200 g of peas (frozen or fresh)
  • 4 pieces of tomato (chopped into slices)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic (granulated/finely chopped)
  1. Peel and chop the potatoes for fries and wrap in a cloth to dry.
  2. Pour flour into a deep plate. And dip each fish fillet separately. It is important that the entire fillet is covered with flour so that the mixture you dip it in later stays on the fish as much as possible.
  3. Mix 200 grams of flour, salt, pepper and baking soda in a deep bowl. Gradually add a glass (200ml) of beer to the mixture and mix well until combined and free of lumps. Add a few drops of lemon juice. Stir once more.
You can make this mixture a little earlier and let it sit for half an hour, but it doesn't make much of a difference in taste.
You can buy a bottle of beer for 0.33 and drink the rest 🙂
  4. Put the oil in a deep bowl and heat it.
  5. Dip one fish at a time in the mixture and place in hot oil until golden brown. Do the same with each piece.
6-10 minutes depends on the thickness of the fish fillet.
  6. Fry the French fries in deep oil until golden. Add salt as desired or just place the salt shaker on the table 🙂
  7. Add peas, granulated garlic, pepper and salt to the water. Cook for about 15 minutes until it is soft, but it should not fall apart.
  8. Cut the tomatoes into slices.

I honestly like to fry fish like this in butter, so try it depending on your taste.

It is excellent served with beer and tartar sauce.
