Sarmice of greens with a splash.

Greens salad with sprinkles, ingredients:

  • 10 large green leaves
  • 2 liters of water
  • 1 teaspoon of vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

For the filling:

  • 300 g of mixed minced meat
  • 1 onion
  • 1/4 (smaller) leek
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 small carrot
  • 2 spoons of rice
  • 1 teaspoon ground sweet pepper
  • oil if needed
  • salt to taste
  • white pepper to taste
  • dry herbal seasoning to taste
  • chopped parsley to taste

For a splash:

  •  20 ml of oil
  • 1 teaspoon of flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground sweet paprika
  • 200 ml of hot water
  • a little dry herb seasoning

Sarmice of greens with sprinkles, preparation:

  • Preparation of wishes: Wash the leaves of celery and remove the thickened part. Put water, salt and vinegar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. When the water starts to boil, put one green leaf at a time, just a little, to soften it. Do not put more than one leaf at a time, and keep it longer, because they soften quickly and fall apart. Fill the pot with cold water and put the scalded leaves. When the whole procedure is finished, put the leaves to drain from excess water.
  • Preparation of the filling: Wash the rice and boil it in water to soften it a little. Fry finely chopped onions, leeks, garlic and carrots in hot oil. Stew for 3-4 minutes, then add minced meat. Finely chop the meat and add spices. Stir and stew until the meat is semi-fried. If necessary, add a little water. When the meat is fried, add ground sweet pepper, stir and add drained and boiled rice. Combine everything and leave to cool.
  • Put a leaf of greens on a board, put two spoonfuls of filling in the middle of the leaf, then first fold the left and right sides, over the filling... Then transfer the front part of the leaf over the filling and wrap the sarmi. Arrange the wrapped rolls in a greased baking pan.
  • Splash: Put the flour on the heated oil and fry until the flour turns yellow. Add ground pepper, mix, then pour hot water. Boil until the ingredients are combined. Add dry herbal seasoning, to taste. Using a sprayer, pour the arranged slices in the baking dish.
  • Cover them with aluminum foil and put them in the oven. Turn on the oven at 200 C to heat it up. I used an earthen baking pan, so it needs to be heated gradually, if it is placed in a hot oven it may crack.
  • Simmer the sardines in the oven for about 30 minutes. Then remove the foil and brown the slices. Serve Sarmice warm with sour milk and enjoy the beautiful taste! Pleasant!
