Peasant kebab - Danijela Žikić - Recipes and Cookbook online

Peasant kebab - this winter dish is prepared in our village! The dish was often prepared by my grandmother.

When I tried it for the first time and saw how the dish looked, the name did not match the appearance of the dish at all! They inherited the name from their ancestors and it stayed that way! It could not be compared in taste, nor in appearance, as they say, with "gentlemen's kebabs" ☺

Peasant kebab, ingredients:

  • 1 kg of pork leg meat
  • water if necessary
  • a bit of salt
  • 1 tablespoon fat
  • 1 kg of cleaned onion, cut into strips
  • salt, dry herb seasoning, pepper, sweet and hot ground pepper to taste.

Peasant kebab, preparation:

  • Cut the pork into pieces. Pour water and boil. Strain the water. Pour clean water, then add fat and a little salt. Put the meat to stew (add water if necessary) until it is completely soft.
  • Peel the onion, wash it and cut it into strips.
  • When the meat is soft, add onions and spices.
  • Mix and continue stewing, until the water released by the onion evaporates and is nicely fried.
  • Serve a hot dish with the addition of pickled salad of your choice! Pleasant!
