Sweet baskets – sweet short pastry in the form of baskets, but according to a recipe I created myself. The usual way of preparing shortbread is like for vanilla cakes.

But I liked the dough prepared in this way more when it comes to the lean version. It can be used for anything and everything - to make baskets, biscuits, tarts... You can also add cocoa to this dough - reduce the amount of flour by the weight of cocoa. I have not made it with cocoa, but I have advised others and they say they are very satisfied.

Sweet baskets, necessary ingredients:

  • 220 g of soft flour;
  • 80 g of margarine (or butter if they should not be lean);
  • 20 g of vanilla sugar;
  • a pinch each of baking powder and baking soda;
  • 80 ml of caramel syrup.

Ingredients needed for caramel syrup:

  • 60 ml of sugar;
  • 60 ml of water.

Sweet baskets, preparation:

  • First make the caramel syrup.
  • Put the sugar to caramelize at a lower temperature.
  • The caramel should not be very dark, but light brown.
  • Add water and turn off the stove.
  • Let it simmer while the stove is hot.
  • If you have induction plates (hotplates), hotplates that cool down as soon as they are turned off or you cook with gas, the syrup should boil for 4-5 minutes, at a low temperature.
  • You will get more than 80 ml of syrup. (You will use the rest of the syrup when you knead the rest of the dough.)
  • Combine all dry ingredients and rub them with butter (use margarine for a lean version or as desired), pour cooled syrup and knead a smooth dough.
  • Pack it in a bag and leave it in the fridge for ten minutes.
  • If you are in a hurry, you can work with it immediately.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of 3-5 mm (as desired and necessary), cut out the desired shapes (circles, flowers, stars...) and place them on the mini-muffin tray from the outside, prick with a fork and bake in a heated oven for ten minutes.

All the baskets in the photos are made from the same dough if you're wondering why some are lighter and some are darker.
Darker baskets are a byproduct of longer phone calls.

Cook, talk less so your lunch doesn't burn ;).

By the way, if you consciously bake the baskets longer, in addition to having a different color, they also have a different taste - very pleasant.

You can fill the baskets prepared in this way with various creams. I recommend ganache creams (from white, milk or dark chocolate) with the addition of orange, coffee, hazelnuts, walnuts...
